A friend led me to this via facebook last month. I fell in instant love, and wish someone had answered my Christmas prayers ;)
Guys - Yes, performance art, but also in conceptual recording, somehow? And, if even nothing but a toy, it's a toy this girl could have fun with for HOURS.
Also:
Party entertainment (useful.)
Distract a dog/cat/idiot (useful.)
Seduce an audio/science geek (useful?)
Perhaps someone will figure out a way to use it to communicate with inter-dimensional beings.
May be handy if you have to find a broken connection or insulation going bad in electonic circuitry and you do not have an ohmmeter. Caution, before going into anything electric, remove all power first and keep it under your close control so that no one can switch it on without you present. Leave power wiring to the pros.
You can use it or a hacked version of it tuned to low impedance to find the right location to connect a speaker frequency crossover improvement that improves audio clarity.
Thanks for your encouragement, Matt. Electricians have been using "conductivity beepers" for decades. Very handy because you need both hands to hold the two probe tips to your points of interest and have no eyes free to glance at a simple meter.
As for patenting, I think a change of the legal base would be in order, as outlined in wikinomics.
