The Composition and Sound Design Network

I am finishing up a big Golden Tee Golf update. Anna is helping me wrangle 5,000 lines of speech and is doing an awesome job.

We also have a new wii game coming out soon where I am the voice talent so I am looking forward to that. I am not doing much for it actually since this is a game we did 7 years ago and are just re-purposing it for the wii.

What's everyone else up to?

Yep.

It's a "7 processors in 1" mastering plug. It's like good hot sauce, it's works on just about everything.

I am downloading it right now. Can't wait to check it out.

Mastering has been a, how you say, neglected area in my life for the most part.

Unless you count using the ultramaximizer to get rid of all those annoying white spaces in the wave file.

Also, I was looking at the video. That plugin has a crazy amount of sections for a mastering plugin.

How much are you getting into that part?

Matt,

I just posted a new track called "I Never Loved U" that uses one of your whooshes (see if you can find it). The track is a "Kelly Clarkson/Katy Perry" sort of thing.

I will check out the whoosh.

Hey, I like the plugin but it is bringing my system to its knees. I have a dual quad core intel and I am getting out of CPU messages when running 2 tracks and 1 instance of zone.

It happens when I am changing between settings. Are you experiencing that?
Wow, cool song. Parts of her singing and the song remind of Missing Persons.

I heard that synthy thing in the left speaker that led up to a lot of the breaks and down beats. Was that it?
So, I'm late to the thread. But here's what's up with me. Finishing up a horror short that has taken waaay too long to finish. So I'm in final foley passes, ADR tweaks and general mix polishing. Used Matt's Whoosh Library for the fight scenes. I also have another short film in post that I'm just starting dialog work on today.

In the theatre world, I just finished sound designs for Shakespeare's "As You Like It" and "Measure For Measure," both of which involved some fun composition stuff (setting Mr. Shakes' words into 1960s rock music in one instance, Delta blues mashed with french hip-hop and dixieland in the other).

Next up, I'm designing a straight play called "Honey Brown Eyes" as well as a production of "Evil Dead: The Musical."

Wow, that sounds like a ton of stuff going on. And, oh yea.. a day job somewhere in there also.

Glad to hear you are using the Whoosh. I would love to see it when you are done. I should redo that site a bit and when I do I would love to put up some video/sound design samples if you feel like passing it on.

As an aside, talked to Ponte yesterday. He is doing pretty well. Trying to drum up business. He is doing some live engineering for the ides of march also.

I am thinking of hiring him in for a few hours next week to come in and look at our "studio". Also do some listening and talk mix stuff. Seems like he has a pretty sharp ear.

Oh yea, I drive by your house twice a day now (not in a stalker fashion). Let me know if you wanna catch a cup of coffee sometime.

Say hi to Ponte for me. Coffee sounds good, it's silly to not get together now that we live spitting distance apart.
