Not Easily Broken out in theaters Friday

Hello fellow music pros.

I worked as programmer on this film. We finished mixing the score in November 2007 and finally
it's getting a release. I used Nuendo with a lot of samples from the Vienna library for the orchestral mock up. We had a budget to add real strings and woodwinds on most of the cues. The horns and percussion sound design etc all ended up being samples and came out sounding very well mixed with the 35 piece live players. The film is directed by Bill Duke.

Hey David

I have been watching more of burn notice lately and it is really a good show. There are literally on about 3 shows on tv I check out (on hulu of course) and this is one of them.

I was recently watching Season 3 Episode 7 "A shot in the dark" and was really noticing the transition music. It really fits well with the show and there is a lot of variety.

Most of our games have a little transition sequence in them and I noticed the shows transition music is an identical type of thing so i am making notes as we speak. Are you still doing these?

That sounds great. Have fun with the show.

My kids are not quite at the age where we are watching ABC family, but it looks like a pretty well done show.

I do play Jazz drums but I haven't had a studio for a few years so I don't record much anymore. I find I can get as much realism out of programming them and it usually takes less time. I do miss recording though since it is a lot of fun. I get to do some with buddies once in awhile.

Let me know if you ever want me to do a few tracks. I would love it.

I am on facebook, but I only make it there once every 6 months. I will look you up next time I am there. I have about 40 friend requests piled up so I should be in there soon.

I enabled chat on this site, though. Its a little clunky but not too bad.

Oh sure, Simon Phillips, I hang with him all the time. Tell me something interesting... haha....

I actually didn't know Simon was local to the states, but I guess it makes sense. That is cool. I would love to hear those tracks when you guys are done.

Midi Jazz drums are the biggest pain in the ass know mankind. That last little jazzy number I wrote with BBB took me 4 or 5 days total I think and literally half that was just on drums. But, I'm a drummer by trade so I can't skimp.

My writing is nowhere near yours, but the few cool things I have done lately with BBB I can't post since they are my companies and the product won't be released for awhile. I did a couple big band shout sections.

Maybe i will send them to you if you want to check them out.

Funny you mention the chat thing....

Are you on Facebook? We could chat about stuff there. It would be cool if there's a way to add a chat feature to this site.

Awesome tune, David! Mostly BBB I assume?

I would love to work with you one day. Let me know if you ever want any assistance with programming some drums - that doesn't mean your drums don't sound good, though :)

Seriously, it would be a blast.

Thanks for sharing!

Nice tune. Broadway Big Band Rocks! haha.... you upgraded your halion? Does that mean the BBB halion sampler was upgraded? I thought they were separate deals. Did the upgrade help?

I love my BBB but the latency is horrific. I will have to try and emulate your setup someday.
