Well, first off, I'd go pick up an Outlaw receiver (balanced XLR outputs!) if you don't already have one. Secondly, the only real reason I see to push everything through Pro Tools is if you need to A) record the output of a game, or B) run an effe...

Profile Information

Who are you?
Composer, Sound Designer, Film/Television, Games, Studio Engineer
Whats your goal?
Composer, Sound Designer, Film/Television, Games, Studio Engineer, Small Business Owner
Your website?
www.mikeschapiro.com
Your company website?
www.danetracks.com
What project are you currently working on?
I work at Danetracks in West Hollywood. We just wrapped up doing cinematics for the Monsters vs Aliens tie-in game, and are working on another Activision movie tie-in at the moment.
Whats another project you are working on?
I'm usually futzing about in Reason, and when the mood strikes, Reaktor or Max/MSP.
What project did you complete?
Monsters Vs. Aliens
Whats another project you completed?
I built a very odd audio mangler in Max/MSP which was used to create many of the sound effects in the Day the Earth Stood Still remake.
Whats a project you would like to do someday?
I want to build a swarm of small (3-inch long-ish) robots, with motion/distance sensors, speakers, and wheels. Ideally each bot could be built for under 20 bucks.

They'd use a small PIC processor, and a cheap sound chip (or possibly just noise). Whenever they detect something near them, they turn the opposite direction and bolt, as fast as possible, SCREAMING.

I need about 200, and I will release them in high-falutin' restaraunts.
What's your OS of choice?
Mac
What is your setup (hardware, software, mics, libraries, etc..)?
8-core Mac Pro 3.0ghz with 5GB RAM running Leopard.

I have an Mbox 2 Pro.

I have Reason 4.0, Max/MSP/Jitter 5, Protools LE 8, and not too much else of interest. I tend to try and utterly wipe out any possibilities I can think of with any one program before I move on to using another regularly, or building my own effect chains.
